Guest Blog: Matt Whorwood – My First Naidex Experience
Tuesday 1st May saw my first Naidex Experience.
Hundreds of companies and organisations assembled to show how their products and services will enhance the lives of the disabled community. I was attending with my new sponsors AVH and helped man their stand – you might have seen me there!
Lasting three days, the event spanned several large halls of the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham which were filled with thousands of products.
The immense size of the event emphasised the large and competitive market for products and services that enable people with disabilities and special needs to live enjoyable and independent lifestyles.
Naidex began with the official opening by Falkland’s war veteran & charity supporter Simon Weston OBE and after this I was offered the chance to be a judge for the day at the Naidex Style Awards 2012!
After walking around the event, Special Orthotic Services PPod caught my attention for its bean-bag like appearance and vibrant colours which I felt gave it quite a modern look for what is a very practical seating product.
I felt strong vibes from all of the exhibitors that they all shared the same goals: to change the lives of the DISABLED and allow them to become determined, independent and suitably ABLED.
All in all a good event and a welcome break from training!
